About the press

Old books, kept faithfully and made easy to read.

Dharma Herald publishes the classic texts of Sanatana Dharma. We go back to the first printings, set them in clear new type, and add what helps a reader today: pictures that teach, Sanskrit in English letters, and an index that works.

How we make a book

  1. FIRST

    Find the original

We work from the first printing. Where a page is missing from one copy, we find it in another.

  2. THEN

    Proofread every page

Text, verses and footnotes are checked line by line. Each correction is listed in the book’s editorial notes.

  3. THEN

    Illustrate and set

Diagrams drawn from the book’s own words, plates for its stories, and a page designed in the old two-colour style.

  4. LAST

    Print and publish

As a paperback and as an eBook, so the same book can be held in the hand or carried on a phone.
